3 Signs to Know Your Partner is for Keeps

We’re all hoping to have that person in our lives that we can share it with. Someone who will be our better wholes, and complement the crazy people that we can be.

We meet many people. We go on dates. We agree to be set up, to meet friends of friends, and occasionally we agree to get our mothers to handle our business.

All in the hope that we’ll finally meet the person of our dreams.

Once we meet them and sparks are flying, we imagine the possibilities, we imagine our plans coming into fruition and all that.

We can’t help but hope that this is it because they seem to be everything we’re looking for or so we think.

Well, if you need a few clues to point you in the right direction or to find out whether you’re already there, here are some of the markers to watch for:

They give you space

Sure, the start of any relationship is super exciting and you’re all up in each other’s faces, being clingy, wanting to spend every minute imaginable together. That’s normal. You need that to establish your connection, the foundation of your relationship.

But after a few months or well into your year/s, you’ll feel the need to hold on to your sense of individuality.

You want to be able to go out with your friends without them having to worry you’re doing something inappropriate, you want to pursue your own dreams in terms of career and whatnot without having to be scared that they won’t approve of it.

The right partner will give you enough space to grow into your own person. They will understand that while you’re their partner, you are still your own self and you have needs and wants that are apart from them.

They don’t play games

Keeping you guessing can be exciting, and every relationship needs that.

The element of surprise should never be out of the equation. But there’s a line to be drawn between the element of surprise and someone who keeps you guessing about your position in their lives.

If a person values you and wants to build a life with you, they will not risk it by playing games on you. They will invite you to play with them.

They will not waste their time playing the guessing game and waste yours as well. They want to spend that time building a healthy relationship with you instead of going around in circles.

You are a priority

This doesn’t mean that they will drop everything for you when you want them to. They aren’t trained dogs after all. They are people too. But they will make you feel that you are still their priority despite their busy-ness.

They will never forget a date, they will make time for you even when it seems impossible to fit in their schedules, they will make you feel loved and appreciated no matter what it takes.

When someone makes you a priority, you’ll feel it in your heart to be right. You will never have to second guess yourself or shortchange yourself because they will do something about it before it even gets to that point.
